75th Anniversary of “Mit brennender Sorge“ Encyclical of Pope Pius XI

March 14, 1937 was the day when the Pope Pius XI published his Encyclical “With burning concern”. This document, for good reasons written in German, was brought to Germany secretly, and caused almost immediate split up in the German Catholic Church into followers of Hitler and those who obeyed the Pope and were able to reflect the danger caused by the Nazi rule. In the document, which was formulated in the common style of Encyclicals, i. e. not naming the sinners but clearly stating what was wrong, the vision of the consequences of the National Socialism was presented.
